A PASSION THAT CONSUMES

Editor
June 14th, 2008

We would like to share with all of you what God had been speaking to us during our annual base staff retreat that we hosted here in Corrientes from the 29th of May to the 1st of June.

We were accompanied by the various kings’ kids network ministries that are situated here in the north, the teachers and director of the New Generation Institute and many friends who were invited to share this time with us.

The Theme of the whole retreat was: A Passion That Consumes.

Pastor Norma Falcon shared with us and during her message mentioned that Passion has to do with an attitude of suffering or extreme desire to do something. She said that at this time we need to be set ablaze for the lost, for those who still don’t know God and we need to seek God’s face for what is in His heart and the new things he has planned.

We were also fortunate enough to spend time receiving God’s word through various YWAM leaders like David Hamilton, Lynn Green and David Olivera. And in the midst of all the hustle and bustle we set aside time to be able to communicate via skype and telephone with our missionaries who are spread out all over the world. It was a real blessing to be able to hear from then and pray for them.

Thank you to everyone who was praying for us during this time!!

Throughout the campaign God worked miracles of healing in the lives of the people that attended including those who work in the mission.
It was great to witness God transform hearts and to see him work in our neighbourhood.

We are thankful for all God has done and we invite you to carry on praying for more people to come to know the Lord who transforms lives.

Look out- here come the artists!

Editor
April 18th, 2008

Our School of Art in Missions is now officially underway. The school started on Tuesday, April 1st, with a total of eleven students- seven from Argentina, two from Mexico, one from Brazil and one from Chile.
It is the biggest art school we have had thus far at our base- and ten of the eleven students are girls!

The school covers a variety of artistic topics, with practical hands-on classes in Theatre, Clown, Graffiti, Circus, Visual Arts (Painting and Sculpture), Tango, Choreography and many other exciting mediums.
Students will also take part in a number of theory classes, learning about the character of a Christian artist, teamwork, and developing projects that focus on God’s dreams for their lives.

The most important focus of the school is not the development of artists and their artistic talent but rather having an encounter with our God who is a personal and creative God and to master tools in order to help others have an encounter with Him as well through the use of the redeemed arts.

The students have been very privileged to receive teachings from professional artists- the first two weeks focused on theatre and the classes were taught by Maija Doveika (a professional actress from Latvia) and Fernando Ortiz (a professional actor Chile).

During their week of "Clown", the students are learning to make balloon animals.

We know that God is working in the students’ hearts just as much as He is helping them to discover their artistic talent and we are confident that He will continue to do so in the next four months of the school.

The faithful God who guards our lives

Editor
April 17th, 2008

I would like to share with you what happened to my pastor with which whom I work with the Pygmies. Last month we travelled to visit the different bases, friends and missionaries we have here in Cameroon, we had some wonderful times. On our way home the pastor who was travelling in a different bus had an accident which almost cost him his life.

The minibus he was travelling in flipped over near a cliff edge and the amazing thing was he only hurt his chin, hands and legs. The pastor said he was certain he was going to die, but once again God took complete control.

Another testimony
Two sisters in Christ went to visit a group of Pygmies and it turns out that the community they visited was Muslim. God gave them a word and all of that community gave their lives to Christ. Glory to God for who his great love.

Don’t Descend

Editor
January 17th, 2008

"Now there was a famine in the land…. and Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines in Gerar…. The Lord appeared to Isaac and said do not go down to Egypt; live in the land where I tell you to live…. and I will be with you and will bless you… "Gn 26:1-6; 12-13

The region of Gerar was an isolated place on the outskirts of the desert, Egypt was a good place to breed animals, and that was Isaacs occupation.

In that time there was a famine on the earth and Isaac was in Gerar…

God didn't want Isaac to go to Egypt, even though it would have been easier for him to do so. "Do not go down to Egypt " this was the order, in other words God's saying stay here and don't go even though it may seem difficult for you to do so.

Egypt symbolised this world and system of living and God warned Isaac like he warns us today. Don't go down to Egypt, the idea is to climb, grow in God and do not descend or turn back "live in the land where I tell you to live", God always has the best for us in mind.

Reflect on this, every time that you don't obey God, you start to descend…

In this new year walk in obedience what God tells you, because that's what's best for you.

His promise is "I will be with you and will bless you" so carry on and don't descend!

At Christmas we decided to present the Christmas message in a more theatrical way, but still communicate the same true message, what the birth of Christ means.
At the end of the event we spoke to the people watching about Jesus using the drama and time of year as a perfect oppourtunity to do so.

Missions In Colombia

Editor
January 5th, 2008

The year 2007 without doubt was a year with many descions and challenges, which are in the process of being accomplished. Going to Leticia Colombia to work alongside a group of ywamers in their ministry, is just one of these.

Ywam Leticia, is situated in the city of homónima in the south of Colombia and it's from here where they set out to work in their ministry of evangelism and discipling the  aboriginal tribes. The tribes are situated on the banks of the amazon river on the borders of Colombia, Brazil and Peru.

After being there, in the jungle for just over 10 months, I've had to come back to Argentina to process the correct documentation. These people have been engraved into my heart and I shall be returning there to them at the end of January this year.

Arts outreach

Editor
October 3rd, 2007

The Art Ministry, CCArte, recently returned from a trip to Salta Capital in the province of Salta, located in the north-west corner of Argentina. Our outreach, which last two weeks, was spent working with two different churches in two very different neighbourhoods in Salta.

Street evangelism.

The first
week was spent working with a Pentecostal, giving general teachings to the church members in the afternoons and working in the area of art and theatre at nights. The workshops at night, originally planned for the youth, were attended by all ages, including grandparents, and were both challenging and rewarding for the church members. As a team, we experienced a lot of spiritual warfare during this time, with various members getting sick or injured and as well we were in a spiritual environment that was very heavy. However, the neighbourhood was very open in receiving us for presentations in schools, children’s homes and daycares.

We spent the second week with a Baptist church. This week was very different with a much light spiritual setting and the workshops we gave in the evenings were attended by many youth. We worked with the youth in the areas of Theatre, Clown, Juggling and Stage Makeup, Visual Arts and Tango. We also visited a neighbouring town, Coronel Moldes, where there is a lot of witch and pagan activity and we took part in active intercession, walking around the whole town, proclaiming God’s promises over each neighbourhood. There was also the opportunity to present in several children’s homes and schools, in which we were very well received, and to do some effective street evangelism in busy intersections with large signs telling people “Today is your day to approach God”.

The outreach was very rewarding as it was the first time that we were able to travel together, with almost all of the current members of the art ministry. We are very happy for all of the things God did during our stay, and all that He continues to do, in Salta.
