Missionary Conference

Stanley Clark meeting with the pastors.
On 22 and 23 August we held The First Missions Conference organized by YWAM. In a local church, about 100 people participated in the conference and were open to what God wanted to share about missions.
One young participant said about the conference: “That it was very good, because we have many kinds of conferences but rarely are they on the important subject of missions and reaching the nations because few people are interested in Missions. What was shared in the conference really opened my mind“.
If you were unable to attend the conference and want to know some of what was shared here’s some of the points that were touched for you to reflect on:
• “In the continent of the Central Asia only 0.002% of the population are Christian. How many Christians are there here? Millions of people have the right to assemble and worship God. What will change nations are men and women transformed by God, and going to the Nations, serving God in them. Josue Santos, a missionary in Central Asia.
• “The last words of Jesus made it clear that the idea is to reach all ethnicities for God. There are 16,300 ethnic groups, of which 2,700 are still unreached. If only 2 % of an ethnic group is Christian then it’s considered not to have been reached by the gospel”. Stanley Clark, president of World Missions.
• “Decision comes before resources. Decide to bless a nation in your heart even if you don’t have the resources“. Josue Santos
• Only half a cent of every dollar given goes to mission work. Where your treasure is,there also is your heart. It seems clear that the heart of the church is not in missions. What is your part in missionary work?
• “Missionaries are ordinary people with thousands of questions but for some mysterious reason we’ve decided to walk in what God said.” Josué Santos.
• Do not base things on what you know or what you have, but what God says. Don´t let your fears choose for you.
If the church fails to comply with Acts 1:8, God could send Acts 8:1
Many times there are barriers in the Churches that stop the Church from getting involved in missions. We must have new strategies to reach people from another culture in our own provinces. The question is, what should I do? The Church must work as and internal and external force.
Do you want your church to engage in cross-cultural missions but don’t know how to?
Here is some advice given by Stanley Clark:
• Gather information about unreached peoples.
• Praying for the lost. Prayer mobilizes people to action.
• Join a short term mission projects.
• send a missionary.
Keys to know what God wants for your life:
- Look to God.
- Do not look to outside agents or be influenced by needs. Needs are here and they are also in China. Where does God want you? What job is for you? Where do you start your ministry?
- You can not do missions without seeking God before.
- As a child of God you are called to have a deep and intimate relationship with your father. It’s there where God will show you the plans for your life and guide you!
