Notting Hill Carnival

Our team presenting Argentina Folklore in the streets of London.

The three-person team from our mission that travelled to England for the month of August has now returned to Corrientes. They were in London for just over a month and played a very important role in laying the groundwork for future trips to England to work in what is called the Notting Hill Carnival. The carnival is a large-scale festival that lasts for two days and is held in the Notting Hill zone in London. The team first worked in a camp for Muslim children, and then together with the Notting Hill YWAM base in a week-long camp to prepare for the carnival: in prayer walks, intercession, live outdoor worship, presenting Argentine Folklore and Tango, living statues, and much more.

Alcohol and drug usage and violence are common practices among carnival participants and the team reported that many people have a great need of God and healing.  This was the first time that a Christian group was present and participating in the carnival and a British newspaper reported that there was twenty percent less violence this year than in previous years.

Our YWAM base and others have plans to continue attending and working in the carnival, which is ripe for the harvest, for the next coming years. We saw God move in a powerful way during this carnival and we want to thank all of those that were part of this great challenge through their prayers and support.
