Staff spent two weeks learning about the Inductive Method for studying God’s word and pouring over their bibles in order to improve their theoretical and practical knowledge of 1st and 2nd Thessalonians. Viviana Gomez, one of our base secretaries, shared, “The truth is that Paul has left my mouth open and God is speaking very deeply to my heart. There have been a lot of personal challenges, and a lot of homework, but the seminar has been very good.”

This is the first two-week round of several biblical seminars that YWAM Corrientes staff will be taking and it is a great opportunity for us all to learn more about what our bible says, why it says it, and what it means for our personal lives. Mexico, Lybia, Suriname, England, New Zealand, Paraguay, Venezuela… these were the nations that we interceding for during the year 2011, and for this reason we closed the year celebrating all of the nations in our last missions service.

 We held the service in the Family Centre Church, where the church’s missions department was responsible for organizing a nations fair in which they represented seven different nations, sharing not only information about each country but also points for prayer and typical foods.

 It was a very special time for all where we observed how God’s hand has been present in each nation and how as body of Christ, we can be part of His work, not only through our prayer but also by offering as well. We have the privilege to touch these nations and blessing them with God’s message for salvation.

 We continue to trust in that God will respond  all of those prayers made during 2011 and will carry on doing so through all of the new year, because His heart continues to beat for each nation on Earth.

Each Saturday we have seen the great need that these families have to know God, and they are able to do so through the lives of their children. On Saturday, December 10, we finalized the time that we had established to work in this neighbourhood but the personal visits to each family will continue.

We wish to thank the family Piedrabuena, who are members of our church, and who lent us their home to use during this time. The family recently invited the children to join in on the decorating of a Christmas tree, made completely of plastic bottles, and which measured an amazing 3 metres tall.  The children were so happy to be part of these activities and the neighbours couldn’t stop watching all of the work that the family was doing with them.

The work done in this neighbourhood has opened doors for us to work in the public schools and with the adults that have expressed their desire to continue studying in order to finish their primary education.

This has been the start of something very special that God has for each of the families of the neighbourhood of Molina Punta. We need your prayers for them, so that God will guide us to each house to visit, that the obstacles in the way of this ministry will be broken and that we will be able to work with the public school in the neighbourhood. Please pray for the workers that we need as well, so that God can achieve His purposed in each and every one of the children that have accepted Him into their hearts.

The camp focused on topics such as the importance of God’s presence in ministry. The finale of the camp led the kids to a deeper search for God and to a more intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit.

Missionaries from our base shared devotionals and teachings such as “Relationship with God”, “The Holy Spirit” and other related topics with the goal of encouraging and exhorting the youth to a greater comittment in their intimacy with God.

Throughout the camp the kids enjoyed different activities such as their choreography rehearsals, morning devotionals, worship, sports and many other fun activities. Each of the teenagers in attendance put in effort to achieve each challenge and really deepen their relationship with God, something that was quite visible throughout the camp.

The students built models, created slide presentations and verbally explained all about the great inventions to all those present at the fair. Some of the inventions that the students displayed were the steam engine, the television, firearms, the printing press, the automobile, among others.

The grade six students presented their inventions, part of “Argentinean Inventions, such as the bus, the compass, the GPS, bypass, and other inventions of great world importance. It was a wonderful and educative time shared by both students and parents. Who knows if within this group of students from the institute is the next great Argentinean inventor of our times?

The work they are doing involves dealing with different issues that are present in the school such as abortion, identity, sexuality, vices, etc.  Through the presentation of different drama skits the youth are invited to reflect on these issues and then afterwards they participate in a more intimate fashion, answering questions about their personal lives and struggles. The goal of this work is to make youth aware that nobody is exempt from these kinds of issues and that it is always necessary to make good decisions in life. Another goal of this work is to restore in the youth the values that have been lost from society. During the next week, which will be the last week that the ministries visit the school this year, the focus of the drama and the talks will be HIV.

The Art Ministry also made a trip out to the city of Las Breñas, in the neighbour province Chaco. While there they were able to visit three different high schools and reach the lives of some 800 students between the ages of 12-20 years.  The ministry dealt with several problem issues such as abortion, suicide, etc. In each school the groups of students were divided into groups of just boys and just girls and ministry members spoke with them about the value of the individual, biblical values and our identity. In the three schools, the ministry was able to lead both students and teachers in a prayer to declare their faith in Jesus Christ. Many of the youth received counseling after sharing their personal testimonies of abuse, abortion, violence and a lack of love.

As usual the King’s Kids choreography group presented and ministered with their dances and as well as the YWAM Art Ministry presented a creative intercessory drama which called all present to intercede for Latvia. Some of the different prayer points were the high index of unemployment, Latvia currently ranks 3^rd highest among European countries, after Spain and Greece. Latvia is also among the ten countries with the greatest promiscuity, which led everyone present to pray for a national return to holiness and biblical principles.

The message was shared by Venezuealan missionary Jesús Range, who is one of the staff members at the YWAM Corrientes misión. His sermon not only called everyone to reflect but he also challenged the church to “not consider themselves locusts and stop looking at our giants” and take hold of what God has given us because He who is with us is Holy and Almighty.

It was a night filled with celebration and ministering and we praise God for sharing His heart for the nations.

We are continuing to work in the city of Corrientes.
We would like to take the opportunity to share with you about our HIV-AIDS project which originally started in August of 2007.
Through a social worker we met Fernanda who is 13 years old (we have changed her name to respect her privacy) along with her family.
The family consists of parents, Fernanda and her 2 brother (11 and 5 years of age). Only Fernanda and her parents have AIDS.

They live in a small shack with a dirt floor and a tin roof, it barely meets their basic needs.
Our job is to disciple them so that not only have an encounter with God but also to affirm their identity and to improve their quality of life (adhere to treatment, to form habits of hygiene, among other things).

We are currently trying as an organization to get them moved into a more suitable home.
It is our deep desire that God can restore this family and really change their life.
You can be part of this, by PRAYING so that this soon may become reality.
We know that GOD IS FAITHFUL!

Hakamiah is super busy designing and sewing all of the clothing (and the designs are AMAZING!!!!) while the rest of us are creating the whole artistic performance part and working through all of the logistics.  We need your constant prayers in every detail so please contact us for more information on how you can be a part of this project.
All of the funds raised from the sale of the clothing go towards Hakamiah’s trip to Mozambique, Africa to take clothing there to bless the women living in that beautiful country.
